1-GPIS Mission Statement:

GPIS aims at contributing in making the world a better place. To fulfill this objective, GPIS education fosters respect for the international as well as national cultures; history and societies while providing its learners with high quality IB education in a local environment. This education values and protects their sense of identity. The school enables its students to master two foreign languages besides Arabic (English and French), equipping them with skills to succeed in communication internationally.

GPIS strives to develop leaders for the future who are tolerant, caring, reflective, creative and disciplined lifelong learners who contribute in the development of their communities and serve effectively in an internationally mobile world.

GPIS creates value for all its stakeholders through continuous improvement of the profile, performance and satisfaction of all its community members, embracing them all in an atmosphere of genuine care and love.

3-Nursery Hours:

½ The school day starts at 8:00 am till 3:00 pm

All students should arrive in the morning at 8:15 am to attend the morning assembly.

Remarks:

· The nursery requests a serious commitment from the parents to bring their children on time.

· Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 8:45, late students will not be served their breakfast.

4-Absence:

Early dismissal:

- The student is not supposed to leave the school before 2:30 p.m.

- In case a student has to leave early from school, parents are asked to send a written request or fill in an Early Dismissal form at the administration office.

Student’s absence:

- In case of students’ absence parents are asked to inform the administration by phone, mail or SMS or a written letter clarifying the reason for absence.

- In case of illness, a medical certificate from the doctor stating the nature of the illness and attesting to the student’s recovery must be delivered to the administration upon student’s arrival.

- The student should be also re-examined by the nursery’s doctor.

N.B.: Students must maintain an 80% attendance record. All absence days should be justified.

5-Uniform:

- Students should arrive at the nursery in a clean and ironed GPIS uniform: one of the 3 t-shirts with the school logo, navy short, and black/white/navy shoes- as other shoes colors or crocs are not allowed.

- All personal belonging of students MUST be labeled with the student’s name and class to ensure their return by the end of the school year. The nursery won’t be responsible for losing any unlabeled items.

6-Student’s personal hygiene:

- Student must wear clean and ironed uniform.

- Students must have clean hair.

- Boys should have their hair cut on regular basis.

- Nails are to be cut and clean on regular basis.

- Nail polish is not allowed

7- Forbidden items:

- Jewelry and long earrings

- Personal Toys

- The nursery is not responsible for the loss of any of the items mentioned before.

- Chewing gums, lollipops, chocolate, candies, preserved chips

8- Class Requirements:

Parents are kindly asked to send the following items:

- Two complete sets of change (outer and inner sets of clothes)

- A toothpaste tube and a toothbrush

- A hairbrush

- All personal belongings of students should be clearly enlisted and labeled with the student’s name and class.

9-Meals and snacks:

- The Nursery provides a healthy hot meal for lunch and a snack.

- Parents are asked to bring a healthy breakfast, healthy snack and a drink for his/her kid, (drinks must not be provided in glass bottles).

10-Bus transportation:

- At the beginning of the school year the parents are asked to write down the name of the authorized person(s) who will be receiving the student from the nursery’s bus in the afternoon.

- In case of not finding the authorized person waiting on time in location, the child will be taken back to the nursery, where the parents have to collect him/her from there as for NO child will be left alone in the street.

Parents MUST notify nursery’s administration in a written form with any changes regarding the authorized person(s); otherwise the bus supervisor will not permit any other person to collect the student.

- Bus cycles are arranged according to location and no exceptions can be made.

- Students must be ready for the bus 5 MINUTES BEFORE pick up time.

- Buses will not stop to collect late students in the morning or drop any student in any place except the one stated in the bus cycle.

- For a late student who misses the bus, it is the parent’s responsibility to drive him/her to the nursery. The parent is allowed to drive the student to the next stop (where the next student is picked up).

11-Medical emergency procedures:

- Students who are injured are taken to “Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital” to be hospitalized. Address: Sheikh Zayed city - 6th October Road – Giza. Tel: +2 (02) 38500921.

- After consulting the nursery doctor, a student who needs hospital care is accompanied by a representative, where further treatment is provided.

- The nursery immediately informs the parents to meet their child at the hospital.

- The moment the child arrives to the hospital, it becomes the hospital’s responsibility to give the appropriate treatment.

- Specific details of procedures requested by the parents who are different from the nursery policy should be written and presented by the parents to the administration.

- The information will be incorporated in the file of the student and in case of any emergencies; the nursery will proceed according to the parents’ specifications.

- The parents must inform the administration with all details concerning specific individual health problems or allergies to be added to the student’s medical history file.

12-Rules for payment of Fees:

- Fees are paid in two installments

First installment: is to be paid by first of April.

Second Installment: is to be paid by first of July.

- Bus Fees: should be paid with the first installment.

The nursery reserves the right to refuse providing this service to any student who doesn’t reserve his place in the buses by the end of April installment.

- The inscription fees are to be paid with the first installment.

- All kinds of Fees are NON REFUNDABLE.

- No discounts are made on the bus fees.

- No Administration services are available on the First 3 Weeks of August.

13-General Remarks:

- No gifts from students or parents to teachers and administrators are allowed during any occasion.

- Swimming Classes are given once a week by Cpt. Walid SOLIMAN and Cpt. Ihab YOUNES

- Etiquette classes are given once a week by MRS. Lamia KHALIFA

14- Correspondences with Parents:

- All communication must be via e-mails and/or SMSs addressed to the concerned persons and accordingly, your e-mail address must be updated , active and regularly checked.

- Parents will expect to receive a weekly report on his child’s performance and development by e-mail.

- All administrative notes will be sent by e-mail and / or SMSs.

15- Parents Meeting &Workshops:

- The nursery organizes from three meetings during the school year and dates are available in the yearly calendar.

- The nursery organizes two to three parent’s workshops during the year

16- Trips:

- Students will not be allowed to go on a trip without the permission slip that is sent to the parent a few days before the trip.

- In case the student will not attend the trip he/she should not go to the nursery on that day since it will not be a regular school day.

- Trip fees are non-refundable except if the administration is informed of the cancellation two days ahead.

- The school’s website is where parents can find the answers for all their queries and all information related to their child.

 

- Parents are asked to use their child’s ID and password to be able to access their child’s file on the school’s website and to check their absence and their assessment report cards and tuition & dues

- The student’s assessment report cards are uploaded on the school’s website, two days before each assessment day.

- In order to have an effective meeting, parents are kindly asked to read carefully their child’s assessment report before attending the meeting.

Parents are asked to keep in contact with GPIS through the e-mail and telephone

i. Appointments with teachers

- All requests for appointments need to be arranged through the Nursery’s administration who will follow up on scheduling the appointments with teachers according to their office hours.

ii. Suggestions and Complaints

- Parents receive questionnaires reflecting on staff performance and the nursery various activities.

- Parents are asked to fill in these questionnaires and return them to the administration at the earliest convenience in a closed envelope.

- The Administration office will be sending out online surveys periodically to be filled in by the parents.

- Parents’ remarks and comments directly influence all decisions taken; and on the other hand, the questionnaires’ statistics represent a very important part of the regular nursery performance statistics.
